Did you miss any of my blog posts this month? Don’t worry; I’m always here to keep you caught up!
May was all about fun and celebration. George and I celebrated Star Wars Day by watching the second installment of the Disney Star Wars Trilogy, The Last Jedi. The storytelling was subpar, but we thoroughly enjoyed laughing about it together.
An unexpected event in May was the start of the writer’s strike. I couldn’t stop thinking about how the strike would affect television and movies. I wanted to highlight writers' issues everywhere because they deserve to be paid appropriately for their work.
Branching out to another franchise, we watched the new Marvel movie, Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3. We laughed, cried, and fell in love with how beautifully it concluded.
Before celebrating Mother’s Day with my mom, I watched the TV moms of Workin’ Moms hilariously come into their own as humans.
May is also Asian and Pacific Islander Month and I never miss an opportunity to highlight diversity in media. I looked into shows and movies with AAPI representation. I even branched outside my media-watching comfort zone by reviewing the newest addition to the To All The Boys universe, XO, Kitty.
Representation is not just about movies and tv shows but music as well. This month’s featured artist, Fuji Don The Famous, loves incorporating his unique Japanese and Black cultural background into his music.
Speaking of music, Ed Sheeran came out with his new album, Subtract, this month. I already knew I would fall in love with it, so reviewing it would have been too biased. Instead, I decided to share some of my thoughts as a superfan.
Whether it was spending time with George, celebrating diversity, listening to my favorite artist's new album, or further discovering the importance of my profession, I had a fantastic time this month.
