Did you miss any of my blog posts this month? Don’t worry; I’m always here to keep you caught up!
March started strong, celebrating Women’s History Month. I highlighted some fantastic women who work behind the scenes to help create the incredible movies and tv shows we all love. Although women are more empowered than ever, things like the Bechdel Test remind us that representation still has a long way to go.
There was a significant change to one of my longtime favorite shows, Grey’s Anatomy. Ellen Pompeo, who played the titular character Meredith Grey since the pilot episode, left the show. Like many fans, I had a lot of thoughts about it.
Discussions with Damaris completed yet another milestone by having its first guest blogger, The DreamTeam. Comprised of four very talented creatives, including two former featured artists, The DreamTeam is working together to elevate stage shows for performers all over Jersey.
Unfortunately, after such a great accomplishment, March turned sour. My car unexpectedly broke down, forcing me to buy a new one before I was prepared. Feeling overworked, burned out, and honestly just sad, I made the difficult decision to skip a post. However, I was able to channel my emotions into a poem for World Poetry Day entitled, The Storm Inside.
Still, a little turbulence wasn’t going to stop me. I returned fighting with an interview from my March Featured Artist, Love The Director. She’s an incredible photographer documenting the New Jersey music scene. She also uses her platform to build a community for women creatives to collaborate and inspire one another.
To finish March, George and I decided to tackle a dish we’ve never had, rolled flank steak. It was the perfect ending to a tumultuous month.
