February 2023 Rewind

Did you miss any of my blog posts this month? Don't worry; I'm always here to keep you caught up!

February was about celebrating Black History Month, and I spent all month highlighting black media and artists. Past, present, and future Black musicians were greatly celebrated for Black History Month this year. Rhianna played the Super Bowl halftime show and announced she was pregnant with her second child, but she left us all wondering if it was worth the hype.

My February featured artist was Tye Talley, a non-binary hip-hop musician. They have gone through so many hardships in life, but music has always been a reliable constant. They work tirelessly to ensure their music career takes off, even through injury and mental health issues.

Other than music, I had to focus on some tv shows. Disney released season 2 of their Proud Family reboot, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. The animated series had so many powerful messages refusing to shy away from topics like the history of Juneteenth, slavery, and white privilege. I also came across a comedian named Josh Johnson. His new special, Up Here Killing Myself, took the structure of a therapy session but in a lighthearted and comedic way.

I ended February by doing something I’ve always wanted to try; making homemade bread. George and I made potato bread and were utterly deceived by how delicious it looked. What we thought was a great accomplishment turned into such a hilarious way to end the month.
